The Role

At Matrix Renewables, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in supporting our Matrix Renewables Finance Operations Department. Ideally based in Miami, the U.S. Accounting Manager will report to the U.S. Accounting Vice President.

You will strengthen the U.S. division in its day-to-day activities including supporting and supervising U.S. accounting, monthly, quarterly and yearly audit and tax compliance; oversee the correct invoicing and payments processes; manage accounting and related consultants; support Project Finance and Tax Equity in the Structured Finance team; manage reporting and performance analysis against budget and reporting requirements to MR Spain and TPG; communicate with external auditors on multiple audits; and work with external tax team on partnership and corporate tax returns.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

Financial reporting & close

  • Ensure that accounting procedures are enforced and followed in the U.S.

  • Review U.S. GAAP financial statements and management reports, ensuring consistency with group accounting policies

  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for all U.S. entities and the U.S. consolidation

  • Prepare and report monthly, quarterly, and annual financials to the Finance Operations team in Spain and to TPG

  • Analyse actuals against budget for each SPV and the U.S. consolidated financials, explaining key variances

  • Prepare and maintain cashflow reporting and forecasts for each SPV

  • Maintain the U.S. general ledger and chart of accounts, and manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations

Treasury & payments

  • Coordinate with the treasury function on liquidity and funding

  • Oversee invoicing and payment processes, including monthly payment runs

  • Gather and maintain appropriate supporting documentation for all payments

  • Provide relevant supporting documentation to the accounting team on a monthly basis

Budgeting & cost management

  • Manage the purchase-order process for the U.S. team

  • Control internal and external costs and budgeting for the U.S. business

  • Support financing activities

Tax & audit

  • Lead U.S. audits and financial due diligence

  • Work with the tax team to enhance U.S. tax planning and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance

  • Work with the external tax supporting team on partnership and corporate tax returns

  • Communicate with external auditors across multiple audits

Stakeholder & team management

  • Supervise and develop the junior accountants in the U.S.

  • Manage relationships with external accounting and tax consultants

  • Partner with development, asset management, and legal teams on new projects, acquisitions, and financings

  • Support ad-hoc analysis and reporting requests from MR Spain and TPG

General Skills / Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and advanced degree preferred

  • CPA is preferred

  • 6-8 years of experience

  • Must have experience working in accounting at a renewable energy company

  • Experience with managing Netsuite or similar ERP system

  • Important to have previous tax equity reporting/HLBV assessment experience

  • Full understanding of MS Excel, MS Project, and other administrative/controlling tools

  • An ability to perform at a high level in a matrixed organization, working with interdepartmental teams to achieve objectives

  • Spanish is add-on but not a must
